[The video switches on and Tommy's chilling out. If you look closely, you can catch sight of a clothes dryer in the background.]

Hello! Tommy D again. ..I was wondering if it might be possible to get a torch for me to have? I'm not certain how it works here. I have tokens and I have pounds, but I haven't seen any mentions of either thus far.

I'm also.. Well, I'm a bit worried about not being sorted. I don't mind waiting. It's just, I hadn't realized this was the sort of thing where you wait for your letter to arrive and it might arrive much earlier or much later. Is that how it is?

[Tommy looks awkwardly off screen after a pause, then back, but his voice is much quieter.]

I believe I may have flooded the wash room. Could someone help me please?

Thank you, Olive. Thanks. It's.. Well, it's a bit better now, but I feel like maybe I could be doing a bit more. They're not particularly clean..

[A beat.] ..I'm sorry?

You can just send him a message through your communicator like you would a passenger.

Ahh, that I'm afraid I couldn't help you with. They were not invented on my world when I left it.

Did you use soap? [It's a joke. She isn't far by now.]

..I think so. I mean, I thought I had, until you asked. Now I'm not certain..

Oh. I don't have one. It's just.. Tommy D, or Tommy. The D just sets me apart from the other Tommys, I think. I'm not entirely sure why they did it, to be truthful, but it doesn't stand for anything.

...Yeah, I'll take a look.

Oh. Well. Okay, that's cool. Hey, I'm on the floor, I'll be there in a sec.

[Aaaand Olive is just peeking her head around the door into the laundry room, to check on the damage.] Heeey.

I had not thought of that.

Well, of course. We went into town and the like, when we felt up to it, but you had to intend to be a Carer to learn how to drive and I never intended to. Sometimes we went into town and had lunch. Once Chrissy thought she saw Ruth's Original, but when we went back, it wasn't her.

I'm not actually certain. We were never allowed to ask, so it was mostly rumors. The Donor would definitely be a child, but whether you would be able to be copied at this age.. you might have to be older, or younger. But yes, the Donors-- I mean, we grow up the same as you. Physically.

Oh, right. And you didn't have to get permission to do that?

I... think I understand, so far as I can.

[Tommy looks kind of pathetic, standing in the middle of a puddle and large collection of bubbles in jeans wet to the thighs and an over-sized jumper resting awkwardly on his shoulders. He gives Olive an off kilter smile.] "Hello! I'm, uh.. I'm Tommy."

[He sloshed forward to offer a hand in greeting, his clothes spread soaking wet haphazardly across a few washers. One in particular was overflowing with bubbles.]

Ah. Right. Thanks.

That's alright. Someone else is coming now, I think. Thanks for the help.

We never really had our own space at Hailsham or The Cottages. I guess no one really walked into your room very often at The Cottages, but if they did, it was never really something you got angry over. Especially if they were helping you.

I'm from a different sort of life than most, though. I realize that. Maybe it's not the same for you.

Well.. no. We weren't children then. We'd just check in at night, like I said. Once I was in the Care facility, I had to be checked out, of course, like any other patient. But that was different.

...We still had to get permission to go anywhere outside of the boundaries.

So I was a little curious, I suppose.

I suppose I would not worry so...except that my door was locked, which is why I assumed that the firewood was the Admiral's doing. If someone has been tending to the fires without my knowledge, they would have needed to open the lock in order to enter.

Oh. We had to get permission if we wouldn't be home that night. Otherwise, they'd call after you. I suppose there was nothing to prevent someone from just leaving, but what would be the point? We couldn't function well with the Originals and we had no money or anything. I mean, nothing beyond what they gave us. It's.. There was really no choice but to do what we were meant to, so there was no need for strict Rules or anything.

Why couldn't you function well with the originals?

Olive. [It definitely came out as a chuckle, though, because this was pretty much the most hilarious thing she'd come across in a while.] Sorry, uh - I think maybe you use too much soap. [But she reached out to take his hand to shake. And then promptly bent down to roll up her jeans.]

So maybe we should start by stopping all the ones you have on.

No problem!

It's just, I don't really know much about how they live. So I doubt I'd be able to live with them, holding a proper job and having my own flat and all.

[Tommy smiled that she rolled up her jeans and didn't seem completely fed up with him. The guy knew he could be ridiculously embarrassing to a lot of people, but she didn't seem to mind it. He walked over toward one of the two that was still running and played with it for a moment before it actually clicked off. Then he moved over toward the other one, though he cast a glance over his shoulder to look at her.]

"I had.. rather a lot of clothes. And I wasn't certain how many items to put in each machine."

Oh. Well that's a bit strange then, isn't it? It is. It's a bit strange.

Oh, I see. So they live massively different lives to you? Hm.

It's a delicate art of stuffing without over stuffing, [she said sagely, and once her jeans were mid calf - dear Go she was glad she'd shaved - Olive left her shoes by the door and headed to the closest formerly in use machine to open it up and take a look.]

...We should probably get a mop. I wonder if the maintenance closet has any Sham-wows.
